So sorry to learn of Michael's passing. His students' tributes say it all. He was so intelligent, kind, and the possessor of a unique and hilarious sense of humor which brightened my days regularly at Shaker. Thank you, Michael, for your very special soul.

I remember for a little while he would say "I am exalted", definitely not being serious. A peculiar and funny thing to say. I still like it.
